Extended Search

Extended Search helps you quickly find the content you need while creating a project in Pixton.

Use Extended Search AnywhereExtended Search is designed to help teachers and students spend less time searching and more time creating projects. It can be used anywhere in the Scene Maker, making it easier to discover the right assets while you create your scene.
Top-Level SearchIf you use Extended Search from within the Home tab, Pixton will search across all content categories at once. This makes it easy to build a scene quickly by discovering multiple useful elements from a single search. For example, if you search “girl running in park with dog and ball,” Pixton may return results from multiple categories, such as:
  • Backgrounds (parks, outdoor scenes)
  • Characters
  • Creatures (dogs)
  • Props (balls)
  • Outfits
  • Actions / Poses (running)
  • Faces / Expressions
  • Handheld props
  • Weather (if relevant)
Category-Level SearchYou can also use Extended Search within a specific category, and in this case, Pixton will return results only from the category you've searched within:
  • Backgrounds
  • Characters
  • Props
  • Actions
  • Faces
  • Outfits
How Extended Search Works
Here's how Pixton uses AI to surface the closest available matches:
  1. Enter a word or short description in the Scene Maker search box.
  2. AI suggests related keywords based on your input.
  3. Pixton matches those keywords to the closest content in its library.
  4. Relevant results are shown for you to choose from.

Note: Educators may disable Extended Search, in their Classroom Settings.

Tips for Better Results
  • Use clear, simple descriptions
  • Try short phrases instead of long sentences
  • If results aren’t what you expected, try different wording
  • Sometimes a simpler term (for example, “running” instead of “athlete sprinting fast”) will produce better matches.
Why Results May Not Be ExactExtended Search helps you discover relevant content, but it may not always return an exact match. This can happen when:
  • a search term is very specific or uncommon
  • Pixton’s library does not include that exact concept
  • the closest available content only partially matches your description
We are continually improving Extended Search so that it recognizes more terms and produces better results over time.

Is Search Safe?Yes. User input is used only briefly during the search process and is never stored or used to train AI models.
